Aeolian Whispers

~ Where the words are talk of birds, and butterflies, and all things on the wing. About grass and flowers, and leaves and trees and where I hear the river sing.

Summer Storms

Rain, great torrents of rain,

turning roads into rivers

 streaming down the window pane.

…

Great crashes of thunder

accompanies that flash of light

that splits the sky asunder

…

Alas it’s over all too soon

but still I’m drawn outside

to stand amid the gloom

…

where all around

 I still hear the water

as it sinks into the ground

…

but within the garden beds

plants, in sorrow, bow their heads

their flowers dashed to shreds

…

Thus behold the Storm

the awesome, but destructive, power

that deep within the summers heat is born.

Of Blue Skies and Kingfishers

I want to write about

the exquisite beauty of a Kingfisher

and compare it to an azure sky.

I would tell you of the wonder

that I feel

as I raise my eyes

And watch a single drop of rain

as it falls down from that sky.

..

I would tell of seeing a rainbow

in that single drop of rain,

Or stretched out

across a vast expanse of sky

And of how the sunlight spreads out all it’s colours

When high above

the sun and water pass each other by.

..

Then I would tell you of the dawn

Describing how the morning light

spreads across that sky

And how, in celebration,

the birds all raise their voices

To herald in the new day

with their song.

As they stretch their wings

and fill that sky

..

Listen …

can you hear the sound of the raindrops

as they fall upon the grass

Or see how the soil soaks up the rain

making puddles in the path.

And if you raise your eyes skyward,

toward the upper branches of the trees,

You can watch the raindrops falling

Through the canopy of leaves.
